Managing your Quomodo space
The main rules in your Quomodo space

The behavior of your space follows four major rules:
  1. All the pages in a Quomodo space are shared by all the members of the space. Each member can create new pages.
  1. Each member can leave notes in any shared page and use any smartnote. Once he clicks OK, the note is visible to all.
  1. The latest created smartnote shows above the previous ones. The smartnote's author sets its location in the page by dragging the note with the mouse. At first, all the members in the space see the note in that same location, but then they can move it freely across the page without affecting its location for the other members.
  1. Any member in the space - not only its author himself - may delete any smartnote. Remember however that time machine is always available to retrieve deleted smartnotes.

There are exceptions to these general rules, as some pages and some smartnotes' purpose is precisely to circumvent the rules. Note in particular the following:
  1. Exception to rule #1: the Forum pages are visible only to the participants - that the page's creator has explicitly specified.
  1. Exception to rule #2: the smartnote Private messages is not the same to all members: each one sees the message which is specifically intended for him, and those not concerned don't see the note at all.
  1. Exception to rule #3: the collage pages show exactly the same display to all, changes made by any member affect what all the other members see.
  1. Exception to rule #4: only its creator can delete a Notice smartnote.

There is no general rule regarding authorizations to bring changes in a smartnote. Some smartnotes such as Files, Miniproject or Kitty may be changed by any member, while other ones like Leave a note or Questionnaire may be edited only by the creator, while the other members can only reply or provide an answer.

Sharing a common space

A Quomodo space's administrator is responsible for managing the space and its members.

That said, once within the space, the administrator's and the members' rights are little different.

For instance (and unless otherwise specified) each member can:
  • delete any smartnote created by another member,
  • create as many smartnotes as he wishes in a shared page,
  • create as many new pages as he wishes in the shared space (up to 10 pages maximum in addition to the home page,)
  • edit the smartnotes that others have created.

The rules in the space are not intended to rule the members' relationship with each other. Like in real life, the relations between the members will take place in a good understanding and spirit in as long as each one seeks harmony for the whole group.

Yet, living together in a private shared space is made easier by each member's possibility to personalize his layout of the shared pages. In fact, each member can move and resize each smartnote without changing the display for the other members.

However, as for common rooms in a house, all members live in the same space that they can rearrange as they wish, but they are responsible for tidying it up. To keep an enjoyable space, the members should, for instance, take the time to regularly delete the notes which are no longer useful. Remember that deleted notes can still be retrieved up to one year after deletion: see Retrieving a smartnote.
